In April, young leaders met in Nazareth for two days of training and an exploration of the courage it takes to work against the mainstream. The girls worked with a drama therapist to find their inner strength. They agreed that Creativity for Peace’s meetings are crucial to their ability to be peace advocates.

Before leaving for New Mexico, new campers and their parents met in Jerusalem. Young leaders spoke to the group about the camp experience, led peace games, and inspired all with stories of their personal transformations.

In August, former campers gathered at Kfar Giladi for a weekend of fun and peace work. The girls went kayaking, shared meals, and participated in dialogues about how the conflict between Israel and Palestine affects their lives.

Young leaders worked with Ann Bradney of Core Energetics to heal emotions that block their full leadership potential. “What is incredible is that these young women, who live with this conflict in their daily lives, have a powerful intention to make a different choice than many of their elders are able to,” Ann Bradney says. “I am in awe of their courage and want them to receive all the help they can get to continue this process.”

In October, the 2008 campers gathered in Tiberius, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, for a weekend of dialogue, soaking in the hot springs, and a talent show. The purpose of the meeting was to give the girls the support they need to maintain and develop the many deep changes they made at camp.

The traditional holiday meeting takes place in December in Nazareth, when the girls share their holiday traditions and participate in artmaking and dialogue.
