Lexy Clement was a clinical dietitian,
specializing in Type 1 Diabetes and Insulin Pump Therapy, before retiring a decade ago. She was one of the founders and program director of an outpatient
Diabetes Education Center in Dallas that was later purchased by Eli Lilly Co. and expanded nationwide. After moving to Santa Fe, Lexy and her husband
Patrick, a retired physician, volunteered for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society. For the past year Lexy has been actively involved in the
Peaceworks group, which makes handcrafted gifts for Creativity for Peace girls. She now donates her time as assistant volunteer coordinator. "I knew that
this important organization was for me when I first met one of the young leaders. I’ll never forget when she told me that 'peace would not happen through
politics, but rather one-on-one, one girl at a time.' "
