Application

If you are ready to take the next steps toward achieving your full potential as a young woman and a peacemaker, become a young leader. Here is the information you need in order to apply.

Requirements

  • Previous camper
  • At least 17 years old
  • Active with Creativity for Peace for at least one year following camp
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Leadership qualities (maturity, dedication, discipline, self-awareness, communication skills, etc.)
  • Available to work at camp
  • Commitment to Creativity for Peace and interest in participating in other peacemaking and leadership-building projects or activities as community service

Application

Essay

Briefly answer the following questions in English:

  1. Explain why you feel you are an appropriate candidate for this program. Why do you want to become a young leader? What do you think other young leaders can learn from you? What leadership training do you need?
  2. What do you believe are the most important qualities of leaders?
  3. What does peace mean to you?
  4. Give an example of a conflict in your own life and how you have resolved it.
  5. Describe how you have participated with Creativity for Peace since attending camp.
  6. Describe other activities, projects, or community service that you have been involved in that relate to peace, conflict resolution, or leadership.
  7. What are your goals for your life and career?
  8. What do you hope to achieve in your life as a peacemaker?

Recommendation Letters

Submit one or two letters of recommendation from non-family members who know your work (i.e. community, school, volunteer.)

Completed Applications

Send your completed essay and recommendation letter(s) by email to Director, Young Leader program.

Participation Agreement

If you are accepted into the young leader program, you will be required to sign the following agreement:

Creativity for Peace has expectations of all young leaders. In order to remain in the young leader program, I understand that I must meet the following requirements:

  1. Speak authentically and listen compassionately
  2. Serve as a role model for Creativity for Peace girls
  3. Make my best effort to attend all young leader trainings and camper gatherings
  4. Make myself available to work at camp when requested
  5. Openly receive constructive feedback and put it to use for my growth and development as a young woman and a peacemaker
  6. Promptly respond to Creativity for Peace correspondence and staff requests (invitations to meetings, feedback, evaluation, translation, research, phone calls to girls, help with organizing meetings, etc.)
  7. Initiate contact with Creativity for Peace staff and inform staff of my peacemaking and related activities
  8. Stay in touch with Creativity for Peace girls
  9. Assume responsibilities at young leader trainings
  10. Represent Creativity for Peace in the U.S., Israel, and Palestine
  11. Seek internships, volunteer work, community service, and other opportunities to practice leadership and work for peace
